Pacific Ridge Pony Club, based at Westwind Barn, is part of the United States Pony Club, the world's leading junior equestrian organization with 600 clubs in the United States and more clubs in 30 different countries. Pony Club is a not-for-profit, volunteer, educational organization dedicated to teaching young people riding and the care of horses and ponies. It is an international movement that began in Great Britain in 1928.
Pacific Ridge Pony Club was founded in 1991 and is part of the Middle California Region. The club offers instruction and competition (rallies) in dressage, combined training, show jumping, mounted games, tetrathlon, "The Quiz" (similar to a spelling bee for horse facts), and fox hunting (without the fox).
The club usually meets on Saturdays for lessons, trail rides and rally practices.
Each Pony Clubber must own or have access to a suitable mount. This usually means a well-mannered horse or pony that can jump low obstacles. Before you can become a member of Pacific Ridge, you must demonstrate you are an independent rider. This does not require significant skill, just the ability to handle your mount safely at a walk and a trot.

"As a member of the United States Pony Club, I stand for the best in sportsmanship as well as horsemanship. I shall compete for the enjoyment of the game well played and take winning or losing in stride, remembering that without good manners and good temper, sport loses its cause for being. I shall endeavor to maintain the best tradition of the ancient and noble skill of horsemanship, always treating my horse with consideration due to a partner."
